Financial Controller - IoT SaaS Scale-Up (Ghent)

Sensolus is growing fast and our finance team needs to keep pace! We're looking for a Financial Controller who's ready to own the numbers, sharpen our reporting , and help build the financial backbone of a scaling tech company . ?? 

This isn't a tick-the-box finance job: no routines, no managing teams, no bumping into rigid structures but rather exploring different domains, taking ownership over improvements and working as a strong, complementary unit!

Sensolus is a Belgian IoT scale-up, building asset tracking solutions for logistics and industrial companies (think Airbus, ABInBev, DHL). Today we are a team of around 60 people, operating internationally with customers all over the world. ?? 

Our finance team is deliberately lean, hands-on and ambitious. You'll work closely with our CFO and Finance Accountant and combine deep technical accounting with hands-on operational finance and genuinely make an impact from day one. ?? 

In this role you will combine technical accounting ownership, financial reporting, and operational finance responsibilities in a small but ambitious finance team. 

We're a lean team, which means you'll get hands-on with a broad range of topics:  

?? Accounting & Closing   

• Drive the monthly closing process together with our Financial Accountant 

• Own BEGAAP accounting from A to Z (you're the expert in the room!) 

• Review VAT returns and keep us on the right side of Belgian tax obligations 

• Support preparation of annual accounts and corporate tax filings 

• Lead audit preparation and make sure we're always ready 

??International Finance  

• Be the finance point of contact for our US subsidiary , Sensolus Inc. 

• Coordinate with external accountants in the United States 

• Support group consolidation between Belgium and the US entity 

• Ensure intercompany accounting is clean and well-documented 

??Financial Reporting  

• Support the CFO with monthly management reporting that actually tells a story 

• Make sure our financial data ties seamlessly to key SaaS metrics (ARR, margins, and more) 

??Operational Finance  

• Insurance administration together with our broker 

• Subsidy administration and reporting 

• Fleet administration in collaboration with HR 

• Financial aspects of HR processes (payroll review, warrant schemes, etc.) 

??External Stakeholders  

• Build and maintain strong relationships with auditors, tax advisors, banks, and subsidy agencies 

• Keep our external compliance processes running smoothly 

??Process Improvement  

• Spot inefficiencies and take ownership in fixing them (#worksmarternotharder) 

• Help automate KPI reporting and accounting workflows as we scale 

You have a solid accounting foundation, a pragmatic mindset, and you thrive when you're given real ownership. You don't wait to be told what needs fixing because you see it and you act.  You probably:  

• Have 4–8 years of experience in an in-house finance role, or came up through audit and made the move to industry 

• Know BEGAAP accounting inside out 

• Are comfortable with VAT, annual accounts, and Belgian tax compliance 

• Have some exposure to international accounting environments 

• Have a basic handle on consolidation and intercompany accounting 

• Love working in a hands-on environment where no two days look exactly the same 

• Are structured, reliable, and detail-oriented (without being rigid) 

• Communicate fluently in Dutch and English  

• Have experience with Exact Online, Teamleader, or similar tools
